Spitfire Celebrations in Ramsgate, 5th March
We are all getting very excited this week here in Ramsgate as The Defence of the Nation Museum are putting on a Spitfire Day to commemorate the first flight of the Spitfire 80 years ago on 5th March 1936. The celebrations will start from 11am down by Ramsgate Tunnels and include live entertainment from Naomi Hart and her Hotsy Totsy Quintet (who are staying at the B&B!) and Swing Noir, a popular local duo. There will also be local business stalls and a children’s marquee with Joey the balloon modelling clown and the chance to build, paint and take home your own Spitfire Airfix model.
The highlight of the day will be a Spitfire choreographed display which will be around 2.30pm and last for about ten minutes so fingers crossed for blue sky! There will be all sorts of other entertainment going on all day until around 4.30pm so if you are in the area, make sure you come on down. Check out their website at Defence of The Nation Museum to find out more and if you want the chance to win a 30 minute ride in a Spitfire, there is a link to buy raffle tickets (£5 each or £25 for 5). Chocks Away!
