Fun in Fanet!
The last official weekend of summer is over and we had some lovely guests staying at the B&B this weekend who had escaped London for a break by the sea after being tempted by the posters of Botany Bay whenever they used the tube and they weren't disappointed! They loved Ramsgate especially our architecture, local shops and restaurants - they had a lovely evening at Alexandra's Italian Restaurant and enjoyed a lunch at Royal Harbour Brasserie. They were enchanted by the Military Road Arches and discovered the delights of Arch 15, Arches Bar, Harbour Chocolate Lounge and Something Fishy.
But what they loved most was the fact that here, in Thanet, you can walk around a corner of England in just a few hours! They decided to get the Loop bus (runs every 7-10 minutes) over to Margate and visit Turner Contemporary then strolled along the beach all the way back taking in the sandy scenic shores (they timed the tides just right) going from northfacing to southfacing in under three hours. Now where else in mainland England could you achieve that?
Cycling the Viking Coastal Trail has been even more popular this year since they have extended the trail to make a loop around Thanet. 27 miles of the most beautiful coastline and five miles of historic villages and countryside rounded off with a celebratory local ale from one of the many micro pubs that are cropping up in Thanet. But that's another story...
