Ramsgate Rainbow Steps Renamed!
Well, we had a such a lovely day last week when our town mayor, Pat Moore came and opened the newly named Ramsgate Rainbow Steps with an audience of all the children involved in creating their wonderful collages depicting the many colours of Ramsgate (photo of me and the mayor courtesy of Isle of Thanet Gazette!). It was all a bit of a mad rush with the wonderful Expression Signs delivering the children's artwork on boards the night before and Lee from our council bolting them to the walls in the morning with the childern from seven of our priamry schools all attending in the afternoon to see their work proundly displayed for all to see on each landing of the Rainbow Steps.
After a weekend of working with fantastic volunteers in May painting the steps and sides followed by two weeks of painting the one thousand railings in July and with the children's work up, we were finally ready to have them officially opened and our Mayor did a fantastic job! She was also happy to give each child (all seventy of them that came!) their well deserved certificate after they had received their delicious icecream. I hope you get to see the steps and artwork yourself this summer and if you want to see the original collages, they are all being exhibited at Harbour Chocolate Lounge for the summer holidays and if you want to see some more pics of our lovely opening day, click on this link from Isle of Thanet Gazette.
