Still Smiling, Still Sunny!

Still Smiling, Still Sunny!
Still Smiling, Still Sunny!

Well, how did that happen?  It is nearly October!  The official summer months have flown by with many return guests and plenty of new ones too who have discovered the delights that Ramsgate and the Isle of Thanet have to offer.  We really haven't stopped but it's been great fun!  OK, that's my feeble excuses for not writing a blog for a while out of the way so let's get down to what's happening here in sunny Ramsgate!  To start with, it really is sunny and the photo of the beach was taken this week with people swimming in the sea on another balmy evening here in Costa del Ramsgate!

I've been working with the Active Ramsgate steering group and together we have come up with a list of activities for people to enjoy whilst here and many local businesses have offered special discounts so that you can experience something different whilst on your holiday.  From Scuba diving to kayaking, kitesurfing to pickle ball (you might have to Google that one!), we have got lots to offer here on the south coast of England.  We have also been working with Stuart Barnes who runs boat trips including seal watching and windfarm trips and if you quote 'active8' when you book, you will benefit from his discount too!  He has a new website which makes it easier to book online at Go2Sea so do check him out for a memorable trip.

If you want a bit more info on the discounts offered, please pop over to the  Visit Ramsgate website and read my blog about all the walking routes we have and while you're there, do check out the rest of the site and let me know what you think!

The other image I've posted is of The Royal Pavilion, now open after a £4.5 million refurbishment by J D Wetherspoon and I have to say, they have made an amazing job of it!  True to it's original design, the space inside is vast and the roof terrace is a triumph.  It is fantastic to see this once delapidated building restored to it's former glory.  Most of our guests have popped down this month and raised a glass to it's success and all have been very impressed with the attention to detail.  They also advise, if you want to order food, use their app for a very efficient service!  How 21st Century for this old girl - constructed in just 6 weeks back in 1903 and resurrected (which took a good deal longer!) 114 years later!

Whilst we bask in this final fling with summer, which I have heard on good authority, might last well into October, I hope to see many of you down here before the year is out; for fresh sea air, stress-free walks and lots of lovely food and drink in our vast array of bars, cafes and restaurants! Plus of course, Charlie's full English breakfast
